Jamun Churna

Introduction :

The powdered seed of Jawa Plum (or Jamun fruit) is widely used in the management of Type-2 Diabetes mellitus since time immemorial. It is an effective anti-diabetic that significantly helps lower raised blood sugar level and delays the onset of diabetic complications.

Actions :

Jamun Seeds significantly decrease serum glucose, insulin, insulin resistance, TNF-α, dyslipidemia, and pancreatic thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances and efficiently enhance β-cell function and pancreatic superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase antioxidant enzyme activities in Type-2 Diabetes mellitus1

Exerts positive effect on memory owing to its anti-amnesic effect2

The seeds significantly enhance islet cell regeneration3

Effectively lower post prandial hyperglycaemia owing to significant α-amylase inhibitory effect4

The seeds potentially reduce oxidative stress caused due to alcohol on Liver and Kidneys and protect against fatty degenerations in Liver and Kidney5

Possess significant antibacterial activity against multidrug-resistant human bacterial pathogens6

The seed powder also protects against peptic ulcerations by reducing gastric secretions. It also enhances mucin and mucosal glycoprotein production in stomach, which enhances the stomach’s mucus-lined protective layer.
